Heavy Truck Driver

Summary of the Job:

Safely operates a commercial motor vehicle throughout Ravalli and surrounding counties. 

Works overtime and Saturdays when needed. 

Work Environment:

While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions, cement, and admixtures.  May be around some materials that are considered hazardous. 

 Job Characteristics:

This position performs technical and moderate to heavy physical labor duties while operating the truck. Requires attention to detail and safe procedures.  Requires accurate record keeping, diplomacy and knowledge of products.  Maintains confidentiality.  Daily contact with the public, other employees, and contractors.

Essential Functions:

Responsible for safe operation of equipment.  Being able to safely maneuver equipment around the jobsites. Follow directions of contractor and/or homeowner. When needed, follow the directions of the conveyor or pump operator.

Responsible for inspecting vehicle for proper and safe operating conditions before and after each trip.

Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Maintain required transport documents. Keep paperwork in order and write legibly. Adhere to all local, state and federal regulations and always ensure DOT compliance. Communication over the radio system is essential. Maintain clear and concise records while performing truck inspections. Complete and submit all paperwork in a timely manner.

Must accurately account for money collected. Will be dealing with checks, cash and credit cards.

Drive the vehicle safely to and from the jobsites in Ravalli and surrounding counties. Being observant of changing road / traffic conditions and adjust driving accordingly.

Keep the inside and outside of equipment always clean.

Always follow all safety precautions, including performing equipment checks.

Performs any other duties as required, including but not limited to cleaning the yard, welding when applicable, shop/mechanic work when applicable, operating the forklift and loaders (once certified), helping customers in the yard, etc.  All employees of DBRM are expected to do what it takes to safely get the job done.

Experience:

Requires a basic knowledge of roads throughout Ravalli and surrounding counties. Basic math skills. Skills in operating heavy equipment such as loaders and forklifts.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

High School Diploma or GED

Must possess a valid State of Montana CDL

• Class A with Tanker Endorsement Preferred

Current Medical Certificate

Clean Driving Record

Pass a pre-employment physical

Pass a pre-employment drug test as well as random tests

Pass a background check
